Installation and Performance
Chaotic signposts are made from stock grade Luan, each one is hand colored with a box of Crayola and a stick of charcoal, then perched precariously on legs of hammered steel, and held straight with shims and neon ribbon.
Their main job is to mockingly point out that rationality is futile, and perhaps the best approach (in the face of exorable apocalypse) is to jump blindly into the abyss, enjoying the voluptuous chaos on the way down.
Performance; The sculptures are taken off their stands, and are carried in a procession to a near by baseball field. I shout commands “left right left, no behind you, yes and around again ”. The six-foot posts start to clash, pickets fall and a battle is made. The tops of the signposts become antlers we separate into pairs clash horns, we form distinctive circles, walk awkwardly without guidance around the field. We are lost, without motive and prone to violence.
