Installation and Performance
Two limestone chimney stacks stand on the edge of the road. One has crumbled in half, the other stands tall supported by vines and dirt- dobber nests.
In an attempt to preserve the past, I make a bandage from blue fabric which I have silk screen printed with a brick design, and proceed to wrap the standing stack. The polyester blue is a harsh contrast to the soft yellow of the limestone. I pin around the hearth opening to retain its shape. I let the fabric stay until the winter snows. The Chimney still stands. Through the performance I connected with the past (and myself).
